5 Star Review from Midwest Book Review:
The winner of a Mom's Choice award for excellence. One Wish for Winifred Witch is a rhyming children's picture book about a little witch with a big problem - she's afraid of the dark! Her fear just might keep her from going out on Halloween - what to do? Winifred asks the wise Aunt Broomhilda for help. "You see Winifred . . . Being afraid of the dark doesn't just happen to you, it happens sometime to Big Witches too.'//Then a lantern of fireflies she took from a shelf and told Winifred she used it sometimes for herself." A charming Halloween-themed picture book, One Wish for Winifred Witch is highly recommended.
From Wild About Reading-by Donalisa Helsley,Author/Blogger:
This is a delightful story about a little witch who has a secret fear. She finally trusts someone with her secret. They come up with a solution to help her face her fears. I love how the story shows children not to keep their secrets to themselves but to trust an adult. It also shows that there is a way to overcome fears. This is a beautiful way to start a discussion with children who are afraid of things. The illustrations are very cute and the story flows readily from the tongue. It is written in rhyming verse which made it fun to read to my children. One Wish for Winifred Witch is not only good for Halloween but for all year round! This is definitely one to have on your bookshelf.
Writer's Digest Self-Published Book Awards:
The author has a deft way with words. For example, when Winifred visits Aunt Broomhilda, she is "sweeping spells" off the floor. What a detailed image! The reader thought the solution to Winifred's problem was creative and clever. Fireflies in a lantern were an excellent choice.
The artwork was hilarious and engaging. Little details like the "One shoe off, one shoe on . . . " witch were delightful. The artwork took the text and added even more to the narrative. Broomhilda's shop contains a barrel full of "Brooms that Zoom" and a jar of "Snow Wishes." This make the book fun to read, again and again!
